IPT's One-Day Tax Seminars are known for their coverage of current and emerging tax issues specific to individual states. Attend this program to brush up on the latest developments in Wisconsin while meeting with senior state tax officials. Registrants may submit questions in advance to be addressed by the officials. Non IPT members may attend.
Wisconsin Program Highlights:
The Wisconsin One-Day Tax Seminar opens with a welcome and introduction by the Secretary, Wisconsin Department of Revenue; followed by updates on Streamlined Sales Tax; sales and use tax law changes; and a session on the state of Wisconsin's economy. After networking and lunch, the program resumes with a multi-state tax update, an update on manufacturing valuation and case law; and an update on combined reporting. Early registration is recommended as space is limited.
Prerequisites: Anyone may attend.

Sales and Use Tax Symposium

This year´s Sales Tax Symposium is being held in Indian Wells, California. The program begins on Sunday, September 26, and concludes at Noon on Wednesday, September 29.
The Sales Tax Symposium Committee has put a great deal of time into creating a very comprehensive program with broad appeal. The program begins on Sunday afternoon with a session for beginners in the field of sales taxes and a review of the Sales Tax CMI Certification program. A welcome reception follows on Sunday evening. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (half-day)are packed with general and break-out sessions. Further details are included in the program brochure.
Early registration is encouraged, especially with the hotel, as this is historically a very popular program. For the convenience of interested attendees, the program is held in conjunction with sales tax CMI examinations. (Note that separate registration for the exams is required.) Value Added Tax Symposium

This two and one-half day program provides focused education on VAT and its impact on multi-national companies and cross-border transactions. The program encompasses the economics of VAT through the potential implementation of VAT in the US. Along the way the program will also provide presentations and concentrated discussions on Regional Perspectives, Legal Standards, Compliance Automation and specific Industry Issues. Audience participation is strongly encouraged and while some working knowledge of VAT is suggested, the program is structured so that all attendees will gain valuable insight regarding VAT.

Intermediate Personal Property Tax School

The Intermediate Personal Property Tax School is a comprehensive school, which provides an in-depth investigation of personal property taxation. It is designed for property tax personnel who have a basic knowledge of the property tax area. Completion of the Institute´s Basic Property Tax School or comparable experience/education is required. Emphasis is placed upon student participation and group discussion.
If you are searching for ways to enhance your skills in personal property tax management, this school is for you. The IPT Personal Property Tax School builds on your fundamental knowledge of property tax issues using a unique arrangement of informative lectures and participation in small group workshops. Students will be able to expand their current knowledge of personal property tax, classification, valuation, audits, and appeals. Previous coursework or experience is recommended. Sessions will be held in the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, where registrants will also reside.
Note: Submitting a registration form or registering online does not guarantee your acceptance to the course due to limitations on the number per company should the school be oversubscribed. Full refunds will be issued if an application is not accepted. Acceptance letters will be sent no later than September 10, 2010.
Prerequisites: Completion of the Institute's (basic) Property Tax School or three years of related experience is recommended. Employees of taxing jurisdictions (assessors) may attend this school.

Property Tax Symposium

This fall´s program will be held from October 31 - November 3 at the Hilton Austin in Austin, Texas.
For the convenience of interested attendees, the program is held in conjunction with the property tax CMI examinations. Consult the Calendar of Events for scheduling details. (Note that separate registration for the CMI exam is required.)
The 2010 Property Tax Symposium Committee has put together a broad, yet
well-focused, program that should have topical appeal to all property tax professionals. The program begins on
Sunday afternoon with an introduction for new attendees to the Institute´s resources available for property tax professionals and a social hour.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (half-day) are packed with six general and twenty-one break-out sessions. Included, by popular request, are seven industry roundtable group discussions where you can join with colleagues in your industry to exchange ideas, experiences and strategies.

IPT´s annual Income Tax Symposium is being offered November 8 - 11, 2010 at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Florida.
The Income Tax Symposium Committee has put together a comprehensive program that begins on Monday evening with an Opening Reception, followed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (part day) with eleven general and eight breakout sessions. A range of topics of interest to state and local income tax professionals will be covered, including significant recent legislative or judicial developments, the economy, tax planning, tax issues for troubled companies, tax credits and incentives, state government finances and the economy, nexus, etc. For those interested in attaining the Income Tax CMI designation, written and oral examinations follow the symposium on Thursday and Friday. (Please note that a separate application is required to sit for the CMI Examination.) See the Income Tax CMI page on IPT's website for further information.
